Welcome to Globetrotting Accountant.com. The ultimate goal of this website is to document the various financial lessons learnt from moving countries and needing to start again. From nothing.

Landing in a new country with two suitcases, not knowing exactly what’s in store for you can be overwhelming, scary, rewarding, and empowering all at once. Savings dwindle much too fast and action plans are a constant work in progress.

Along the way, new friendships are forged and new places explored. We meet people from all walks of life, each with a unique immigration journey. Kudos to those who have started over in countries and mastered new languages to boot!

I am a experienced accountant who has had to pack up and relocate to a new country more than once. Originally South African, I packed up and moved to Ireland and then Canada. These are the lessons I learned along the way. I hope the lessons documented, are useful to anyone on their own expat journey.
